Within seeing the first 3 seconds of this commercial, I officially lost the last grain of respect I still had for Gwen Stefani (somehow, I'd been fooling myself into thinking that her new pimpin' image and 'it's fun and important to be rich'-oriented songs were meant to be ironic *sigh*), so you can imagine how I felt when INSULT was added to injury about 15 seconds later.

She had now chosen to steal a great detective's name (and FONT), and use it to sell some trinket (yeah, she's probably oblivious of it, but surely, SURELY someone on the marketing team knew what was going on?). Funny thing is, I wouldn't have minded so much if this ad wasn't so BLOODY AWFUL. It's the sort of thing Zoolander and Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie (opening to Season 4 of ABOFAL) made fun of, and this ad follows their travesties faithfully.

1) nonsensical phrase repeated over and over. check.
2) whispering. check.
3) woman in water. check.
4) extreme tedium. CHECK!

Anyway, I had about 30 phrases I wanted L to spew, but decided to leave it blank and let YOU decide!

My original choices were:

-"I DID NOT AGREE TO THIS!"

-"GET YOUR OWN FONT!"

-"STOP USING MY NAME IN VAIN!" (get it? vain? like this ad?)

-"LAME!"

-"YOU ARE TARNISHING MY NAME, THEREFORE YOU ARE KIRA!"

Anyway, I think the *shakefist* will suffice for now. Would love to hear your thoughts.
