162 : Tut : How to Embroider by witegots 162 : Tut : How to Embroider by witegots
Second embroidery tutorial. The third will focus on how to make a bag from scratch.

Once again, apologies for the overall lack of professionalism. I've probably left out some stuff too...*sigh*. If you have any questions. Let me know, k?

Boy, can I relate. I not too long ago got back from studying in the UK for a year, and I know eeexactly how everything is four times more expensive as you have four times less money. If you don't mind indulging my curiosity, where are you studying? :-D

You are [link] [link]. Not sure what I'm trying to achieve with the weird cool-wannabe punctuation, but whatever. I used to embroider when I was younger, and I'm pretty tempted to get back at it. It gives one a wonderful sense of eeer achievement.

Thanks for the fabulouuuus tut!!

IT IS, you funny, funny lady. Get at it!

I'm missing it myself at the moment due to being in college in a foreign country (and not being able to afford anything).

I love your tutorials! I am currently attempting to make an L bag but the measurements keep coming out wrong. I am using 16 count linen... does it need to be 18 count to come out exactly like yours? And I'm guessing the more detailed your pictures, the higher count you need? I am determined to figure this out, lol.

Man, I used to cross-stitch all the time. I bet I still have all the supplies and stuff. I should dig it out and use it again.

Your totally right cross-stiching takes FOREVER! I started one in the summer and it's still not done (granted I stopped working on it sometimes in october...) The problem is that it's soooo big. I've never tried embroidering before but it looks pretty interesting....so next time I get more linen I'll give it a shot :)

p.s making mistakes is the most annoying thing ever >_<

Well, with the exception of the fact that you type-o'd *as well as well* which I'm fairly sure that I'm the only one that noticed/gave a shirt about...It's great! Just as good as the last one but with a few new perks. And I now 100% understand what you mean by ///// and XXXXX. I'm that much closer to actually not sucking at doing it when I do it...be that as it may.

Caz is very excited now!!! I can't wait to see the bag tutorial! I'm gunna have lots of fun. For some reason i always find repetativeness really relaxing. That might be why i like editing film. You can sit for hours editing a few seconds and most people would be like GRRRR ODMFGODASDFOJDSOD IT TAKES SO LONG AND IS SO REPETATIVE but i'm like ahhhh relaxing editing. I think i'm gunna love embroidery!
Thank you so much for making this! :aww:

hnn?
so did you do the bags with single stitch or cross stitch?
and did you sew the white parts and the black parts in, not just leaving them blank?
Reply
:iconwitegots:
witegots Featured By Owner Sep 4, 2007
Single stitch.

I sewed both the black and white parts. It's mostly fine to leave the white parts blank when making pictures for framing, but it's nicer to have them all filled in (with white string) on items you end up using (bags, pillows, etc).

Nah. Not difficult at all. It's repetative, but if you've got something to keep you entertained on the way (i.e. music, movies), then you will do fine.
